IPAWS: Integrated Public Alert & Warning System
(No subscription needed)
Northland Alert also provides an emergency notification system that does not require a subscription. In the event of particular dangerous situations in which residents are urged to take immediate action (such as an order to evacuate or seek safe shelter), a text message will be sent to all cell phones within range of the emergency situation. These alerts make use of cell towers to identify all cell phone users within the affected area at the time of the emergency.
