Kristi is a 21 year veteran that has been a member of HFD since December, 2001. Kristi paved her way as the first female employed at the Hibbing Fire Department and first female Officer. Kristi climbed her way all the way up to Shift Captain. During her time as an Officer, she also took on the role as Interim EMS Director. Kristi spent the last two and half years juggling 2 demanding positions as a Captain on shift and as the EMS Director. This is no easy feat and Kristi's ability to step up to such demanding task is beyond impressive.
Kristi comes with an extensive background in EMS and is a second generation Firefighter. She is also a state certified Fire Instructor and has countless hours teaching EMS, CPR, Firefighter skill and Apparatus Operation. Her passion for helping others, ability to find solutions, and assertive personality is the driver for her success as EMS Director. We are excited to see what is to come with Kristi being able to focus solely on being EMS Director. We are confident our already excellent patient care will only continue to improve with Kristi driving our success.
Kristi can be found volunteering her time with youth sports, teaching, or in the softball stands crocheting a new garment while her husband coaches. Originally from Virginia, MN she and her family took up residence in Hibbing 20+ years ago. Congratulations Kristi McCormick!
