Al has been a member of the Hibbing Fire Department since 2012. He brings a strong background in EMS, instruction, and management. He is also a lead instructor for the paramedic program at Minnesota North Colleges. His love for medicine shows through his impressive patient care skills and interactions with students.
Al boasts strong decision making skills and demonstrates great scene management. He is a dual threat for both EMS and Fire duties required by the Fire Department. The Shift Captain is directly supervised the Battalion Chief and includes managing the day to day activities such as EMS & Fire response, leading the daily training sessions, ensuring crew camaraderie, and some administrative duties such as scheduling. The Fire Captain also leads suppression efforts during a fire incident. Al was promoted because he has demonstrated proficiency in all of these categories throughout his reign at HFD and while acting in the captain's role upon the absence of a shift Captain.
When he is not on duty or teaching, Al loves the outdoors and sports especially when his family is by his side.
