On Nov. 7, at approximately 1:50 p.m., Hibbing police officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of 9th Ave. W. on the report of a road rage incident involving a firearm. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male on a yellow ATV had brandished a firearm and fired a round into the ground near the driver of a pickup truck involved in the incident.
No injuries were reported from the incident. Officers did a thorough search for the suspect, but did not locate him at the time.
Shortly after the incident, HPD posted a photo of the driver on the four-wheeler on social media, asking the public for assistance in identifying the person. The photo was shared widely, including by local media sources.
After a thorough investigation and assistance from the public, officers were able to identify the driver of ATV.
At approximately 10:10 a.m. today (Nov. 8), officers took the male suspect into custody without incident. The male suspect is being held at the Hibbing Jail and awaiting formal charges by the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office.
HPD was assisted by the St. Louis County Sherriff’s Office, and thanks the public and local media as well.
