Reconstruction of alleys between 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue West from 31st St. to 39th Street continues to make strides. Also slated for upgrades are alleys between 2nd Avenue West and 3rd Avenue West from 31st Street to 39th Street.
Homeowners in the vicinity were made aware of the plan for alley work earlier this month. Work commencing around mid-September, with reconstruction activities including removals and milling. KGM is the contractor.
The work has restricted access to the alleys while the project is ongoing, propelling residents to park on nearby streets and place garbage cans at the edges of alleys for collection.
“We understand that this work may be an inconvenience, and we appreciate your (residents’) patience and cooperation,” noted City Clerk-Deputy Administrator Candie Seppala.
Prior to the alley work, sewer lining work was done between 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue West from 31st St. to 39th Street and gas service work by Hibbing Public Utilities (HPU) was completed on alleys between 2nd Avenue West and 3rd Avenue West from 31st Street to 39th Street.
