The City of Hibbing is proud to announce a generous $75,000 contribution from U. S. Steel’s Minnesota Ore Operations in support of recent improvements to the Hibbing Memorial Arena.

This investment helps advance key upgrades -- including the installation of a new digital scoreboard -- that enhances the experience for athletes, spectators and the entire community.

“We are grateful for U. S. Steel’s continued commitment to Hibbing,” said City Services Director Nick Arola. “Partnerships like this strengthen our recreational facilities, support our youth programs, and ensure the Memorial Building remains a top-notch facility for families, teams, and fans.”

“Places like the Hibbing Memorial Arena are where our employees cheer on their kids, where lasting memories are made, and victories earned,” said Travis Kolari, Head of Operations for U. S. Steel Minnesota Ore. “At U. S. Steel, we proudly support our Iron Range communities and the places that bring people together.”

Mayor Pete Hyduke also expressed his appreciation for this community investment.

“Investments like this make a real difference for our families, athletes, and residents,” he said. “The Memorial Building is a cornerstone of our community, and U. S. Steel’s support helps ensure it remains a place where memories are made for generations to come.”

The new scoreboard is one of several enhancements made to modernize the arena and improve functionality for hockey, figure skating, events, and longtime community traditions.

“We deeply appreciate U. S. Steel’s ongoing commitment to Hibbing,” added Hyduke. “Their support strengthens not only our facilities, but also the partnerships that help our city continue to grow and thrive.”
