Juneteenth, also known as African American Independence Day, Jubilee Day, or Freedom Day.? Juneteenth is a Federal and Minnesota State holiday which we recognize the start to the end of slavery of 1863, which President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, during the American Civil War, declaring more than three million slaves living in the confederate states be free, this was one of the first steps towards equality. We would like to bring this celebration to our community to celebrate the culture, history, and achievements of our African American community. We celebrate together as one America, one people, one Hibbing!
