UPDATE: Thank you for submitting names to our inaugural Name a City Dump Truck Contest. The submission period has ended, and we are no longer accepting nominations. We heard from more than 75 people and are now in the process of selecting a list of finalists. Voting will be held this month. Check back here or watch for an announcement on the City of Hibbing Government's social media channels.
Following the success of the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) snowplow naming contest, we are seeking your best name for two of our newest rigs – dump trucks.
We encourage you to submit your most witty, unique and Hibbing- or Iron Range themed dump truck name nominations. The submission form will be open through Jan. 3, 2024, and the link will also be shared across City of Hibbing’s social media accounts.
Here are a few basic rules:
- Each person may only submit one name.
- Submissions are limited to no more than 30 characters (including letters and spaces).
- Let’s keep it clean, nothing vulgar please. Any submissions that include profanity or other inappropriate language will not be considered.
- Politically inspired names (including phrases, slogans or plays on politicians’ names) will not be considered. Naming city equipment is meant to be fun and lighthearted, so we’re going to keep this contest nonpartisan and nonpolitical.
After the submission form closes, city staff will review all the submissions, select some of the best ideas, and invite the public to vote on their favorites in January. The two names that get the most votes will then make their way onto the new rigs.
